x²-1 = (x-1) (x+1) is a factor of f(x) = ax³ + bx² +cx +d = 0
so f(1) = a + b + c + d = 0 ..............(1)
and f(-1) = -a + b - c+ d = 0 ...........(2)
subtracting 2 from 1 gives
2a + 2c = 0 ⇒ a +c = 0
Hence proved.
so f(1) = a + b + c + d = 0 ..............(1)
and f(-1) = -a + b - c+ d = 0 ...........(2)
subtracting 2 from 1 gives
2a + 2c = 0 ⇒ a +c = 0
Hence proved.

a(-1)³+b(-1)²+c(-1)+d = -a+b-c+d = 0....(2)
From eqn. (1) and (2)
a+b+c+d = -a+b-c+d
a+a+c+c = 0
2(a+c) = 0
a+c = 0
x²=1
x=+1,-1
