Consider the fig above

Now,

Add up,

1 cm + 1cm +2cm=4cm

Since all sides are equal.

So it. is square

So Area of square= side * side

So Area will be 16 sq.cm

Now, Again

Area of rectangle = 1.5*2=3.0sq.cm

Adding 3+3 =6sq.cm

At last Subtract

A. of square - A. of Rectangle

16-6 sq.cm

So,we get,

10 sq.cm
