This question is based on the lesson Lines and Angles. Grade - 9

In the given figure we are asked to find the value of x, so we find it out by using Linear Pair.

In figure POQ,

2x - 30° + 3x + 40° = 180° (Linear pair)

5x + 10° = 180°

5x = 180° - 10°

5x = 170°

 x = 170/5

 x = 34°

Now that we have found the value of x, we sustitute it in the two equations to find the value of ∠POQ and ∠QOR.

∠POQ = 2x - 30°

          =  2(34) - 30°

          =   68°- 30°

          =  38°

∠QOR = 3x + 40

           = 3(34) + 40°

           = 142°

For more ensurance, if we add the two angles, we must get 180°, as it is a linear pair,

∴ 142 + 38 = 180°

∴ x = 34°

  ∠POQ = 38°

  ∠QOR = 142°
