PLEASE HELP: A purebred, red-eyed female fruit fly is mated with a white-eyed, male fruit fly. White eyes are X-linked recessive.

Part A: What percentage of the male offspring will have white eyes?

Part B: Is there any chance that any female offspring might have white eyes? Explain why or why not in 2-3 sentences.

Answer:

the percentage is zero(as far as i think it is )

Explanation:

it is because males are heterogametic and have a y-chromosome.

as per the question the white eyes are only linked with x-chromosome .the recessive trait cannot be observed in the presence of a dominant trait

the female will have white eyes as it has both the alleles for white eyes
