PLEASE HELP!!! According the the collision theory of rate of reaction, why does charcoal powder burn more quickly than charcoal pieces?

see, as the particle size decreases, more parts of the particle gets exposed to other particles. so more successful collisions will take place. so charcoal particles will burn and explode compared to pieces, since more small particles are being exposed to the air
