*Materials occurs in nature according to their compactness. Material are categorized into three common states in which they are present, they are solid liquid and gas.

*Solid materials are materials whose particles are closely arranged with each other.

*Liquid material has the tendency to flow because the particles are not usually arranged like solid substances. Liquid has a tendency to flow from higher elevation to lower elevation.

*Gas is defined as whose particles are are far apart and are closely connected.

*But all the materials regardless of their state has mass. Solid materials can be tested for the toughness, hardness and malleability.
