PLEASE HELP ASAP get 51 poins if correct

Three friends went on a road trip from Phoenix, AZ, to San Diego, CA.

• Mark drove 50 percent of the distance.
• Jason drove 1/8 of the distance.
• Andy drove the remainder of the distance.

1. Andy thinks he drove 1/4 of the distance from Phoenix, AZ, to San Diego, CA. Is Andy correct? Use mathematics to justify your answer.

2. The distance from Phoenix, AZ, to San Diego, CA, is 360 miles. How many miles did each person drive?

Solve the problem on your own paper. Then write a paragraph below explaining the strategy you used to solve the problem. Include any mental math or estimation strategies you used. Write in complete sentences

1. Andy is incorrect.

Let the total distance by d.

Now, Mark drove 50 percent of it.

So the distance left to be covered = d - \frac{50}{100}d = d - \frac{d}{2} = d/2

Jason drove 1/8th of the total distance.

The distance now left is = \frac{d}{2} - \frac{d}{8} = \frac{4d}{8} - \frac{d}{8} = \frac{3d}{8}

Since Andy drove this distance left, he drove three-eighths of the total distance (3d/8, or 0.375d).

2. Given: d = 360 miles.

Substituting this value into all the stuff we did above:

Mark drove d/2 = 360/2 miles = 180 miles.

Jason drove d/8 = 360/8 miles = 45 miles.

Andy drove 3d/8 = 3 * 360/8 miles = 135 miles.

Estimation strategy:

Total distance is 360 miles. When calculating the distance Andy covered, I directly multiplied that for Jason's by 3. I could also have directly subtracted the distances Mark and Jason drove from 360, which shall give me the same result, since the total distance is covered by these 3 people.
