EXPLANATION.

Total amount payable for a commodity is ₹ 9600.

CGST and SGST both equal to 10%.

The total amount payable for the same commodity in different state with SGST of 5%.

As we know that,

Let, we assume that commodity before GST = y.

⇒ CGST equal to = 10%.

⇒ CGST = (10/100) x y. = 0.1y.

⇒ SGST equal to = 10%.

⇒ SGST = (10/100) x y = 0.1y.

Total amount payable for a commodity is ₹ 9600.

⇒ y + 0.1y + 0.1y = 9600.

⇒ 1.2y = 9600.

⇒ 12/10 x y = 9600.

⇒ y = 800 x 10.

⇒ y = 8000.

For the same commodity in different state with SGST of 5%.

⇒ CGST equal to = 5%.

⇒ (5/100) x y.

⇒ (5/100) x 8000 = 400.

⇒ SGST equal to = 5%.

⇒ (5/100) x y.

⇒ (5/100) x 8000 = 400.

Total amount payable = 8000 + 400 + 400 = 8800.

Given :-

The "Total Amount Payable" for a commodity is Rupees 9600 in a state with CGST and SGST both equal to 10 %

To Find :-

The "Total Amount Payable" for the same commodity in different state with SGST of 5 %

Solution :-

Let the same commondity be x

10% of x = CGST

10/100 × x = CGST

10x/100 = CGST

x/10 = CGST

10% of x = SGST

10/100 × x = SGST

10x/100 = SGST

x/10 = SGST

Now

Total amount = CGST + SGST + same commondity

9600 = x/10 + x/10 + x

9600 = x + x + 10x/10

9600 = 12x/10

9600 × 10 = 12x

96000 = 12x

96000/12 = x

8000 = x

Now

5% of x = CGST

5/100 × 8000 = CGST

5 × 80 = CGST

400 = CGST

5% of x = SGST

5/100 × 8000 = SGST

5 × 80 = SGST

400 = SGST

Total amount = 8000 + 400 + 400 = 8800
