Hey... I think this can be ur answer!!

Placenta helps in exchange of materials between foetus and mother's blood during gestation period.
They grow towards embryo and help in exchanging O2, nutrients and other substances from mother's blood to embryo
The waste products like co2 generated by embryo gets transferred to mother's blood with the help of placenta

The placenta allows diffusion of substances from the mother to the foetus and from the foetus to the mother.
From mother-
Oxygen and nutrients like glucose,amino acids,vitamins,mineral ions.
From foetus-
Carbon dioxide, urea.
Placenta also acts as an endocrine gland. It produces hormones called oestrogen and progesterone.
