Well , here we need to find the perimeter of the play area, because fencing is done along the length and breadth.

Formula of perimeter=2(length+breadth)
                                 =2(40ft + 20ft)

                                 =2×60ft = 120ft

                                     Unit=ft

So the correct option is (A) ft.

hi friend,

in the question ,they asked us to find how much fence is needed to surround the play area which means they ate asking us to find out the perimeter of the play area

perimeter of the play area is 2(l+b)

where l is the length of the play area

b is the breadth of the play area

where units of l and b are in ft

so ft is the measurement used to find perimeter

I.hope this will help u;)
