The human body within is supported by a rigid frame work called skeleton . In adults, there are 206 bones, out of which 80 form the axial skeleton and 126 are of the appendicular skeleton. The skeletal system forms the basic framework of the body. It provides muscular strength and support to the body. It also helps in locomotion and movement. The femur or the thigh bone is the longest and the strongest bone found in the human body. It plays a major role in locomotion.
