PLEASE HELP!!!
Imagine you are living in the 1880s. Write a newspaper editorial advocating either for or against settlers migrating to the Unassigned Lands. Read more about writing editorials. Use the arguments you made in parts A and B. Your editorial should be about 150–200 words.

Answer: Here is one of the sample answers on Edmentum/Plato, hope it helps!

Stop the Mad Dash to the Indian Lands

People move to the West with dreams of building settlements in Indian Territory. But they don’t have the right to be there, so US troops force them out each time.

The boomers’ temptation to settle in the Unassigned Lands is understandable. They argue that the lands aren’t occupied by any Native American tribes. Also, the lands are public and owned by the federal government. Under the Homestead Act, any US citizen should be allowed to stake their claim. How else can our civilization continue to spread and fulfill our Manifest Destiny?

But this is only half the truth. The government may hold the land, but these lands originally belonged to Native American tribes. Even if a person were fortunate enough to gain access to any of these new lands, who’s to say it would even be good for farming? There’s also little in the way of military or government, so new settlements would have little hope in maintaining order.

It’s easy to be tempted by dreams of adventure and great fortune. But, don’t let it blind you from the truth of what is right. Give the lands back to the tribes, and let them live in peace.
