A] Equivalent resistance of series combination is given by
♦ R = R₁ + R₂ + ... + Rₙ
B] Equivalent resistance of parallel combination is given by
♦ 1/R = 1/R₁ + 1/R₂ + ... + 1/Rₙ
Let's come to the question now!
In right part, three resistances of 3Ω are connected in parallel. So their equivalent resistance will be,
➙ 1/r = 1/3 + 1/3 + 1/3
➙ 1/r = 3/3
➙ r = 3/3
➙ r = 1 Ω
After solving right part, r and 3Ω come in series So net equivalent resistance of the circuit will be
➠ R = 3 + r
➠ R = 3 + 1
➠ R = 4 Ω
∴ Net equivalent resistance of the circuit is 4Ω.
