in the question , As we have given the value of a, put the value of a in LHS [2a^3 +6a]

▶Apply the identity ( a - b) ^3

▶multiply 2 inside the bracket after the expansion of term using formula ( a - b) ^3

▶Then cancel out the like terms which have opposite signs

▶ finally remains 4 - 1

▶ 4 - 1 = 3 , hence RHS

( a - b) ^3

= a^3 - 3a^2b + 3ab^2 - b^3
