It was a sunny and pleasant morning. As always I was walking to the school with my elder sister. Our school was a few meters away from our residence. So we used to walk to and fro. On the way I used to enjoy the activities of other people on the road. It was quiet interesting to watch different people in different mood.
On this day, as soon as we left the apartment, we saw a huge crowd and chaos on the main road. From the location I understood that the site is construction site.
"Something wrong happened," I said and ran towards the spot.
My sister tried to hold me back as it was responsibility to take care of me. But i ignored her admonish and reached the spot.
The scene on the spot was horrific and shocking. A worker was lying under the earth mover! From the cacophony of the crowd I realized the victim was none but the earth mover operator.
People were yelling and rushing here and there to take out the victim. But no one was knowing how to take away the earth mover. People suggested various opinions. The man who was trapped under the earth mover, was making a feeble groaning. It was clear that he was losing his last breath. No staff of the authority was present at the time of the accident. It was not known to anyone how the operator fell under the earth mover.
As all were standing and staring at the scene helplessly, a group of senior students reached there. Later i came to know they were volunteers. They assessed the situation. One of the boys climbed to the earth mover and started the engine. He pressed many livers so that the earth mover can be moved from the man who was lying under it.
By that time an ambulance reached there and took him to the nearby hospital.
I was in deep dismay. A poor man lost his life. Now what will be the condition of his family? I asked myself. With the persuasion of my sister, I mechanically walked towards the school.
