Step-by-step explanation:

let length be 'l'

acc to question

l x l/3 = 1200 m² ( area of rectangle)

l²/3=1200

l² = 3600

√l² =√3600

l= 60.

therefore length of room is option (a) 60 m

Solution :

Here, given that

  • Breadth of a rectangular room is one third of it's length.
  • Area of the room is 1200m².

Let

  • Length of the rectangular room = k
  • Breadth of the rectangular room = k/3

Formula used

  • Area of a rectangle = length × breadth

Now, according to question :

➥ Area of the rectangular room = length × breadth

➥ Area of the rectangular room = k × k/3

➥1200 = k²/3

➥ k² = 1200 × 3

➥ k² = 3600

➥ k = √3600

➥ k = 60cm

Now, put the values

  • Length of the rectangular room = k => 60cm
  • Breadth of the rectangular room = k/3 = 60/3 => 20cm

Hence, the length of the rectangular room is 60cm.
