Critical angle is that angle of incidence at which angle of refraction is 90 degree if we increase the angle of incident after the critical angle , Light gets reflected in the same medium...This phenomena of light is called total internal reflection...
Every transparent has its critical angel...this means that when a light travel from denser to rarer medium it either gets reflected or refracted according to critical angle...
The light can be refracted if the angle of incidence is less than that of critical angel...and the same light can be reflected inside the same medium if angle of incidence is greater than that of critical angle...
As diamnod has critical angle 24.4 degree , this mean if a light travel from diamond to air then it will either reflect or refract...
light actually reflect as at every point of incident light get greater angle of incidence than 24.4 degree , So light gets trapped or captured inside the diamond and stays for long time in it...that is why diamond sparked..
