it can be solved by Pythagoras theorem

ladder=hypotenuse=25m

height of building=perpendicular=24m

So, distance between them=

24*24+x*x=25*25

576x*x=625

x*x=625-576

x*x= 49

x=7

the distance between the foot of the ladder to the building is 7m
