1)Parenchyma
It forms the major component within the organs. The cells of parenchyma are generally isodiametric. Their walls are thin and made up of cellulose. They may be either closely packed or have small intercellular spaces.
Functions of Parenchyma
1) The Parenchyma performs various functions like photosynthesis , storage , secretion. The Parenchyma which is found in mesophyll layer of leaf contains Chloroplast called chlorenchyma . Chlorenchyma performs the function of photosynthesis.
2)In aquatic plants the intercellular spaces between Parenchyma cells are very large and are called aerenchyma . It provides buoyancy to hydrophytes ( aquatic angiosperm).
