Since, area of quadrilateral = area of trapezium + area of triangle

so, firstly, area of trapezium, thus, area of quadrilateral ,

1/2 × (a+b) × height

1/2 × (8+12) × 2

20 cm²

then the area of triangle,

1/2 × base × height

1/2 × 12 × 4

24 cm²

thus the area of quadrilateral,

= area of trapezium + area of triangle

= 20 cm² + 24cm²

= 44cm²
