Aim --> To show that starch is produced in the presence of sunlight.

First step --> Place the plant in a dark room for atleast 24 hours so that all the starch in the leaves is drawn back inside the plant. This step is necessary to show that production of starch takes place in sunlight and the part covered with the black paper won't produce any since it does not receive any sunlight.

Observation --> When iodine solution is poured on the leaf, we'll see that the part having starch turns blue black (which is the exposed part) and the part of the leaf which was covered with the black paper turns brown indicating that starch is not present.
