These are 5 precautions that can be maintained while tracing light ray through a glass prism :

1. First and foremost , the glass prism should be clean and should not contain any dust.

2. While performing collinearity of points, attach the pins at 90° (vertically) on the paper.

3. Separation of pins should not be less than 5 cm or 50 mm

4. The pins should have sharp points in order to fix properly on the paper.

5. A sharp pencil should be used to draw the outlines/boundaries of the glass prism.

6. Be careful who handling sharp pins.
