1. Solve: 2(x + 3) = 27

2(x + 3) = 27

= 2x + 6 = 27

=> 2x = 27 - 6

=> 2x = 21

=> x = 21/2

=> x = 10.5

→ Let us multiply this by distributive property:-

= (a - 4b)(4a - b)

3. Find the volume of a cubical box of edge 5.3 cm

→ Given is the edge of the cubical box = 5.3 cm

We know,

Volume of cube = (side)³ cu.units

Hence,

4. If thrice a number is 8 more than the number. Find the number.

→ Let the required number be x

Thrice the number = 3x

ATQ,

= 3x = x + 8

=> 3x - x = 8

=> 2x = 8

=> x = 8/2

=> x = 4

Therefore the number is 4.

5. Find the product using suitable identities:-

→ We can see that the equation is in the form:-

(a + b)(a - b) which is equal to a² - b²

Hence,

here We have \sf{\dfrac{3m}{5}} as a and 7n as b

Therefore,

\sf{\bigg(\dfrac{3m}{5} + 7n\bigg)\bigg(\dfrac{3m}{5} - 7n \bigg)}

= \sf{\bigg(\dfrac{3m}{5}\bigg)^2 - (7n)^2}

= \sf{\dfrac{9m^2}{25} - 49n²} (Ans)

6. The volume of a container is 0.9 . If it is 50 cm long and 120 cm wide, then find its depth.

→ Volume of the container = 0.9 m³

Length of the container = 50 cm = 0.5 m

Breadth of the container = 120 cm = 1.2 m

We know,

Volume of cuboid = Length × Breadth × Height

Hence,

= 0.9 = 0.5 × 1.2 × h

=> \sf{\dfrac{0.9}{0.5\times 1.2} = h}

=> h = 1.5 m

Therefore, the depth of the container is 1.5 m
