Answer:

(a). Plants and trees take in carbon dioxide and release oxygen back into the air in their process of photosynthesis. This is why the Amazon, which covers 2.1 million square miles, is often referred to as the "lungs of the planet": The forest produces 20% of the oxygen in our planet's atmosphere.

(b). The passenger pigeon or wild pigeon (Ectopistes migratorius) is an extinct species of pigeon that was endemic to North America. Its common name is derived from the French word passager, meaning "passing by", due to the migratory habits of the species.

(c). Sacred groves protect several valuable plant species of food, medicinal and other valuable plants and animals (Ramakrishnan, 1998). ... The sacred groves shelter several medicinal plants of great value not only for the primary health care of the village communities, but also important in modern pharmacopoeia.

1). The Tropical rainforest of Amazon is known as the lungs of the planet earth' because they are responsible for the production of about 20% of the earth's oxygen. They remove a large amount of carbon dioxide from the air and give out oxygen. So, the correct answer is 'Amazon rainforest'.

2.) People ate passenger pigeons in huge amounts, but they were also killed because they were perceived as a threat to agriculture. As Europeans migrated across North America, they thinned out and eliminated the large forests that the pigeons depended on.

3.) Sacred groves protect several valuable plant species of food, medicinal and other valuable plants and animals. The sacred groves shelter several medicinal plants of great value not only for the primary health care of the village communities, but also important in modern pharmacopoeia
