Answer:

a) 25m

b)20m

c)15m

d) 18m.

Step-by-step explanation:

given,

height of electric pole = 7m = height of tower

distance between the base of pole and ladder = 24m = base

(every tower is perpendicular to ground )

a) length of ladder = hypotenuse of triangle ABC

by pythagorus theorem,

base^2 + height^2 = hypotenuse^2

24^2 + 7^2 = BC^2

576 + 49 = BC^2

625 = BC^2

√625=BC

25=BC

hypotenuse =BC = 25 Metres

b) let the height of the pole = 15m (given)

hypotenuse or length of ladder = 25m

(from the first problem )

by pythagorus theorem,

base^2 + height^2 = hypotenuse^2

AB^2 + 15^2 = 25^2

AB^2 + 225 = 625

AB^2 = 625-225

AB^2 = 400

AB = √400

AB= 20

BASE = AB = 20M

C) since the poles are perpendicular to ground ,

the distance between base of poles and top of

poles are equal

distance between base of poles = distance between tops of poles

distance between the top of poles = 15m

d) given ,

pole broken into 2 pieces and the top of the pole broken and touched the ground ,

distance between base of pole and tip of pole = 12m. (given)

height of pole after broken which is perpendicular to ground = 5m (given )

by pythagorus law,

base^2 + height^2 = hypotenuse^2

12^2 + 5^2 = hyp^2

144 + 25 = BC^2

169=BC^2

√169= BC

13 = BC

The actual length of the pole = broken part + the unbroken part

length of pole = 5m + 13m

length of the pole = 18m
