Answer:
Diffusion :
Diffusion is a mass transfer phenomenon that causes the distribution of a chemical species to become more uniform in space as time passes. In this case, species is a chemical dissolved in a solvent or a component in a gas mixture, such as the oxygen in air.
Example :
Perfume is sprayed in one part of a room, yet soon it diffuses so that you can smell it everywhere. A drop of food coloring diffuses throughout the water in a glass so that, eventually, the entire glass will be colored.
Real situation of Diffusion of gases :
Gaseous atoms and molecules move freely and randomly through space. Diffusion is the process whereby gaseous atoms and molecules are transferred from regions of relatively high concentration to regions of relatively low concentration
Example :
When we light an incense stick (agarbatti) in a corner of our room, its fragrance spreads in the whole room very quickly due to the diffusion of its smoke into the air.
Real situation of Diffusion of liquid :
Diffusion can also happen in liquids. This is because the particles in liquids can move around each other, which means that eventually they are evenly mixed. For example, potassium manganate(VII) is a purple solid. If you put a crystal of it into a jar of water, the purple colour spreads slowly through the water.
Example :
The spreading of purple colour of potassium permanganate into water, on its own, is due to the diffusion of potassium permanganate particles into water.
