Answer:

= 18cm^2(approx)

Step-by-step explanation:

apply Pythagoras theorem in 3 triangles

H^2 = B^2 + P^2

H^2 = (4)^2 + (3)^2

H^2 = 16 + 9

H^2 = 25

H = 5 cm

In 2nd triangle

H^2 = B^2 + P^2

H^2 = (4 + 4)^2 + (3)^2

H^2 = 64 + 9

H^2 = 73

H = 8.54 cm

In 3rd triangle

H^2 = B^2 + P^2

H^2 = 4^2 + (3 + 3)^2

H^2 = 16 + 36

H^2 = 52

H = 7.21 cm

Now me have all sides of shaded triangle

Apply heron's formula

s mean semi perimeter

s = (a + b + c) / 2

s = (5 + 7.21 + 8.54)/2

s = 20.75 / 2

= 10.375

Now apply Herons formula

Area of triangle = Square root of[s(s - a)(s - b)(s - c)]

= Square root of [10.375(10.375 - 5)(10.375 - 7.21)(10.375 - 8.54)

area of shaded region = 18 cm^2(approx)
