now, firstly form the equation--

1/5x+40= 7/10x

now, 40= 7/10x-1/5x           ( take the lcm of 5 and 10 as 10)

now, 40= 7/10x- 2/10x

40= 5/10x which is equal to 40=1/2x

so, x=40×2

x= 80

now the total number pages which she has read are (80×1/5) which is 16.

so the number of pages left to read are been (80-16)= 64
