=> (x+1/x)² = (√3)² = 3 [squaring both sides]

=> x² + 1/x² + 2.x.1/x = 3

=> x²+1/x² = 3-2 = 1

Therefore, x²+1/x² = 1

Now, x⁴+1/x⁴ = (x²)² + (1/x²)² = (x²+1/x²)²-2.x².1/x² = (1)²-2 = 1-2 = -1
