Why are so many teenagers lazy?

First, not all teenagers are lazy. I happen to know many teens that are not lazy. Waking at 5 or 6 AM to get a head start on my days isn't done just for fun.
However, many teenagers are lazy. I believe this is a result of the young not having priorities straight. In fact, many teenagers have no clue what is important to them now or what will be important 1-5 years down the road.
This is one reason why they default to their learned habits. Video games, sleeping in and general goofiness generally occurs in the absence of purpose. Give a teenager a vision and his or her energy will quickly be put to good use.
Need proof? Watch what happens when a teenager falls in love. Suddenly, responsibility is not so hard to hack! As long as they have that as a priority, he or she will work hard to keep their dreams alive.
