Width of the Tarpaulin = 3 m

Let, length of the Tarpaulin = (x) m

{Including the wastage and stitching margins}

Note: Do not confuse between tarpaulin and tent. Here, the tarpaulin is in a shape of a rectangle, as usual.

Conical tent's height = 8 m

Base radius = 6 m

{Assume that the tent is of the shape of a right circular cone.}

We know, l² = b² + h² (l – Slant height)

⇒l = √[b² + h²] = √[(8)² + (6)²] = √100 = 10 m

We also know, CSA of right circular cone = πrl

∴ CSA = (3.14)(6 m)(10 m) = (31.4)(6) m² = 188.4 m²

According to the Question:-

(x - 0.2)(3) = 188.4

{Since 20 cm or 0.2 m is actually wasted}

⇒x - 0.2 = 62.8

⇒x = 63 m (Answer)
