Answer:

i) Total effective resistance as the combination is in parallel

1 R eff = 1 R 1 + 1 R 2 + 1 R 3

= 1 2 + 1 5 + 1 10

= 5+2+1 10

= 8 10 R eff = 10 8 =1.25

ii) Total current, I = I_{1} + I_{2} + I_{3} I_{3} 1 = 8A =5+2+1=8A

iii) Current through each resistor

I 1 = V R 1 = 10 2 =5 A

I 2 = V R 2 = 10 5 =2 A

I 3 = V R 3 = 10 10 =1A.

R_{1} = 2 \Omega

R_{2} = 5 \Omega

R_{3} = 10 \Omega

Potential difference across each resistor

  • V = 10V

Current through each resistor

I_{1} =  \frac{ V}{R_{1}} +  \frac{10}{2}  = 5A

I_{2} = \frac{ V}{R_{2} }+  \frac{10}{5}= 2A

I_{3} =  \frac{V}{R_{3} }+  \frac{10}{10} = 1A

Total \: current \: I = I_{1} + I_{2} + I_{3}

I = 5 + 2 + 1

I = 8A

R _{eq}=  \frac{V}{I }= \frac{10}{ 8}
