Let the ball be projected with velocity U (in m/s) and at an angle θ with the horizontal.
The ball will undergo 2-D motion in vertical plane and it will act as a projectile following a parabolic trajectory whose horizontal range (R, as shown below) will be 100 m.
Hence from above data we get as follows,
U^2*(sin2θ)/g = 100 [R = U^2*(sin2θ)/g (g = gravitational acceleration)]
or U^2 = 100*g/sin2θ
or U = 10*√(g/sin2θ) [Ans]
