The administrative divisions of India are subnational administrative units of India; they compose a nested hierarchy of country subdivisions. Some of the Indian states consists of divisions which have official administrative governmental status and each Division consists of many districts. In India, Census India calls the units below the district (जिला) and they are usually called Subdivisions (अनुमंडल), tehsil(sometimes referred C D blocks प्रखंड), (taluk/ taluka / mandal). Indian states and territories frequently use different local titles for the same level of subdivision (e.g., the Mandals of Andhra Pradesh and Telanganacorrespond to Tehsils of Uttar Pradesh and other Hindi-speaking states and Talukas of Gujarat, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu
