Given :- Point K is located at (17,−21). If point K is reflected across the x-axis, what are the coordinates of the reflected point ?

Solution :-

We know that, when coordinates (x,y) is reflected across the x-axis, the coordinates of the reflected point will be :-

  • (x , - y) .
  • The x-coordinate remains the same .
  • The y-coordinate is transformed into its opposite (its sign is changed).

so, when K (17, - 21) is reflected across the x-axis, x-coordinate remains the same and y-coordinate sign will change .

then,

→ K (17, - 21) = K'(17 , 21) (Ans.)

Given : Point K is located at (17,−21).  point K is reflected across the x-axis,

To Find :  the coordinates of the reflected point?

Solution:

point ( x , y)  reflected across x -axis  becomes  ( x , - y)

point ( x , y)  reflected across y -axis  becomes  ( -x ,   y)

point ( x , y)  reflected across y= x or origin   becomes  ( -x ,  -y)

Point K is located at (17,−21).  point K is reflected across the x-axis,

=> (17 , -21)  becomes  ( 17 , 21)

coordinates of the reflected point  = ( 17 , 21)
