Step-by-step explanation:

Given :-

a)4a²+7a+9 , 10a²-12

b) 4x³-(2/3)x²y+5 , 8x³+(5/6)x²y+9

To find :-

Subtract first expression from the second expression?

Solution:-

a)

Given expressions are 4a²+7a+9 , 10a²-12

On Subtracting 4a²+7a+9 from 10a²-12 then

=>( 10a²-12) - (4a²+7a+9 )

=> 10a²-12 -4a²-7a-9

=> (10a²-4a²)-7a-(12+9)

=> (10-4)a²-7a-21

=> 6a²-7a-21

b)

Given expressions are

4x³-(2/3)x²y+5 , 8x³+(5/6)x²y+9

On Subtracting 4x³-(2/3)x²y+5 from 8x³+(5/6)x²y+9

=>[8x³+(5/6)x²y+9] -[4x³-(2/3)x²y+5]

=> 8x³+(5/6)x²y+9 -4x³+(2/3)x²y-5

=> (8x³-4x³) +(5/6 x²y+ 2/3x²y) +(9-5)

=> (8-4)x³+ [ (5/6)+(2/3)]x²y +4

=> 4x³ +(5+4)/6 x²y+4

=> 4x³+9/6 x²y+4

=> 4x³+3/2 x²y+4

Answer:-

a) 6a²-7a-21

b)4x³+3/2 x²y+4

Used formulae:-

Change the signs of the terms in the second expression when Subtracting the second expression from the first expression.
