Hey,

Initial curved surface area of cone = (pi).r.l

Radius becomes half

=> r = r/2

So new curved surface area = (pi).r/2.l

So as to let the curved surface area remain same , double the slant height . This will cancel out the 2 in the denominator of the radius .
