using conservation of momentum

MV+mv= M'V' + m'v'

since initial velocity of gun and bullet are zero
MV+mv equals zero

hence

M'V' equals negative of mv

M'V'= -mv

where

M' equals final mass of gun
V' equals final velocity of gun
m' equals final mass of bullet
v' equals final velocity of bullet

use formula given above to draw conclusion from the given statements
