WE KNOW IF A LINE DRAWN PARALLEL TO NY ONE SIDE OF TRIANGLE DIVIDES THE ITHER TWO SIDES IS SAME RATIO..

ND ACCORDING TO ITS COROLLARY.

 \frac{ad}{ab}  =  \frac{ae}{ac}

so according to this..

 \frac{5}{12}  =  \frac{ae}{18}   \\ ae =  \frac{18 \times 5}{12}  \\ ae =  \frac{15}{2}  \\ ae = 7.5
