Let the present age of son be x years

As given in the question that the age of father is 3 times the present age of son, so present age of father : 3 × x years = 3 years

Therefore,
Age of son = x years
Age of father = 3 x years

According to the situation,

After 15 years, age of father will be twice of his son's age.

Age of son after 15 years = present age + 15 years = ( x + 15 ) years

Age of father after 15 years = present age + 15 years = ( 3x + 15 ) years

After 15 years age of father = 2 × age of son after 15 years

= > ( 3x + 15 ) years = 2( x + 15 ) years

= > 3x + 15 = 2x + 30

= > 3x - 2x = 30 - 15

= > x = 15

Hence,
Present age of son = x years = 15 years

Present age of father = 3x years = 3( 15 ) years = 45 years

Let the age of son = 'x'.

Given that father is 3 times as old as his son.

So, the age of father = 3x.

After 15 years:

Age of father = 3x + 15

Age of son = x + 15.

Now,

Given that After 15 years, he will be twice as old as his son.

⇒ 3x + 15 = 2(x + 15)

⇒ 3x + 15 = 2x + 30

⇒ 3x - 2x = 30 - 15

⇒ x = 15.

Therefore,

The age of son = 15 years.

The age of father = 45 years.

Hope this helps!
