Given :-

  • Big sphere is made by melting 64 small spheres
  • Radius of 1 small sphere = 2 cm

To find :-

  • Radius of the big sphere formed

Answer :-

Let us take the radius of big sphere as R,

As the big sphere is made by melting 64 small spheres, the Volume of big sphere will be equal to the volume of 64 small spheres

Volume of sphere = \boxed{\frac{4}{3}\pi r^{3}}

According to question,

 \rightarrow Volume of big sphere = Volume of 64 small spheres

\rightarrow \frac{4}{3}\pi(R)^{3} = 64\times{\frac{4}{3}}\pi(r)^{3}

\rightarrow \cancel{\frac{4}{3}\pi}(R)^{3} = 64\times{\cancel{\frac{4}{3}\pi}(2)^{3}}

\rightarrow (R)^{3}  = 64\times(2)^{3}

\rightarrow (R)^{3}  = 64\times{8}

\rightarrow (R)^{3} = 512

 \rightarrow \text{R = $\sqrt{512}$}

 \rightarrow \text{R = 8 cm}

∴ The radius of big sphere is 8 cm
