Solution:-

Let the present age of the grandson be 'x' years.

So, the age of grandfather will be = (10x) years and the grandfather is 54 years older than his grandson.

10x - 54 = x

10x - x = 54

9x = 54

x = 54/9

x = 6

So, the present age of grandson is 6 years and the age of grandfather is

10*6 = 60 years.

1 Answer: Let the ages of man and his grandson be x and y respectively.

Now according to question :

X = 10Y ————— (a)

X = 54 + Y ———— (b)

Solving a and b we get :

X = 60

Y = 6

therefore, the age of the man would be 60 and the age of his grandson would be 6.

2 Answer: suppose x and y are two divided

parts of 4500. then

x+y=4500 __ (1)

given

5% of x = 10% of y

100

5x

=

100

10y

x=2y

2y+y=4500

3y=4500

y=1500

x+1500=4500

x=4500−1500

x=3000

hence the 4500 is been divided into

two parts of 1500 and 3000.
