Just change/increase their denominators

Like, -18/7 can become -36/14, and then -72/28

Similarly make 3/8 as 6/16 and 12/32

21/8 can be 42/16 or 84/32

2/9 will be 4/18 and 8/36

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Find Equivalent Rational Numbers by Multiplication & Division Method

Find Equivalent Rational Number by Multiplication Method:

By multiplying both numerator and denomination of rational numbers with same integer (non-zero); we can obtain its equivalent rational number

Example 1 : Find equivalent rational number to 4/-5 by Multiplication Method

To find equivalent rational number, we multiply both denominator and numerator of the given rational number with 2 and we get:

4 X 2 / -5 X 2

= 8 / -10

Hence 8/-10 is is the equivalent fraction of 4/-5

Find Equivalent Rational Number by Division Method:

By dividing both numerator and denomination of rational numbers by same integer (other than zero); we can obtain its equivalent rational number (Divisor is to be selected in a way that it completely divides both numerator and denominator; without leaving any remainder.)

Example 2 : Find equivalent rational number to -18 / -54 by Division Method

To find equivalent rational number, we divide both denominator and numerator of the given rational number by 9 and we get:

(-18 / 9 ) / (-54 / 9)

-2 / -6

Hence, -2 / -6 is the equivalent fraction of -18 / -54.
