Hii..
Here is your answer..
First of all.
what is metals?
=>Metals are the elements which conducts electricity.
Some properties of metals:-
1)They are malleable:-
•This means that metals can be beaten into thin sheets with a hammer without breaking.
2)They are Ductile:-
•This means that metals can be drawn into thin wires on heating.
•But all the metals are not equality ductile some are more ductile than other.
•Gold and silver are best ductile metals.
3)They are good conductor of heat as well as electricity:-
•This means that metals allow heat and electricity to pass through them easily.
•Silver is best conductor of electricity. And lead is poorest conductor of heat.
4)They are Lustrous:-
•This means that they are shiny can they can be polished.
•Gold and silver are best because they are bright as well as shiny.
5)They are generally hard:-
•Most of the metals are hard but not all.
Except sodium and potassium(soft metal) all the metals are hard.
6)They are usually strong and have high Tensile strength:-
•This means that metals can be hold large weight without breaking.
7)They are generally solid at room temperature:-
•All the metals are solid at room temperature but only one metal, that is , diamond is liquid at room temperature.
8)They have high melting and boiling point:-
•All metals have high melting as well as boiling point except sodium and potassium. They have low melting point.
9)Metals are high densities:-
•This means that metals are heavy substance expect sodium and potassium. They have low densities.Thry are very light metals.
10)They are sonorous:-
•This means that metals make a ringing sound when we strike them.
Now,What is non-metals?
=>Non-metals are the elements which does not conduct electricity.
Properties of non-metals:-
1)They are not malleable ,but they are bittle:-
•This means that non-metals can not be beaten into thin sheets on hammer but can break into small piece when hammered.
2)They are not ductile:-
This means that they can't be drawn into thin wire on heating.
3)They are bad conductors of heat and electricity:-
•Every non-metals is bad conductors of heat and electricity.
• But diamond is not,It is good conductor heat.
•Graphite is also exception it is also good conductor of electricity.
4) They are non Lustrous they are dull in appearance:-
•This means that non-metals metals are not shiny.
5) Thay are generally soft:-
•All non-metals are generally soft except diamond,it is hardest natural substance ever known.
6)They are not strong and have low Tensile strength:-
•This means that metals can't hold large weight.
7)They are solid, liquid and gas at room temperature:-
•Non-metal can exist in all three form.
•Carbon,sulphur are solid.
•Bromine is liquid.
•Hydrogen and oxygen are gas.
8)They have low melting and boiling point:-
•All non-metals have low melting and boiling point except graphite, its melting point is 3700°C.
9)They have densities:-
•All non-metals have low density except iodine,it have high density.
10)They are non sonorous:-
•This means that they do not produce ringing sound which striking them.
Hope it helps uh...✌️✌️✌️
