5. The answers are as follows:

a)  Cortex region of the kidney.

b) 1)Afferent arteriole;
    2)Glomerulus;
    3)Bowman's capsule;
    4)Efferent arteriole

c)  Ultra filtration; Selective re-absorption; Tubular secretion.

d)
The process occurring in 2 and 3 is called ultra filtration. In this, Filtration of the blood occurs at hydro static pressure in glomerulus which makes the liquid part of the blood to get filtered out. The filtered out material is known as glomerular filtrate. This happens because the wider afferent arteriole brings more quantity of blood into glomerulus but less blood leaves through the narrower efferent arteriole which causes high hydro static pressure to develop in glomerulus.

Hope it helps

PS: IT WAS ONCE ASKED IN ICSE BOARD'S 2011, SO I KNOW IT.

Radharani: thanks
Aashika: anytime radharani
