Xylem

1.Xylem conducts water and minerals.

2.Out of the four elements of xylem three are dead i.e, tracheids,vessels and xylem fibres and only xylem parenchyma is living.

3.Compounds of xylem includes tracheids, vessels, xylem fibres and xylem parenchyma.

4.Conduction is mostly unconditional,i.e, from roots to apical plants of the plant.

Phloem

1.Phloem conducts organic solutes or food materials.

2.Out of the four elements of phloem three are living, i.e, sieve tubes,companion cells and phloem parenchyma and phloem fibres are dead.

3.Compounds of phloem are sieve tubes, companion cells, phloem parenchyma and phloem fibres.

4.Conduction may be biconditional, i.e, from leaves to storage organs or growing parts of the plant.
