\large\sf\underline{Given\::}

Equation :

  • \sf\:\frac{2x+5}{3}=3x-10

\large\sf\underline{To\:find\::}

  • Value of x

\large\sf\underline{Solution\::}

\sf\:\frac{2x+5}{3}=3x-10

  • Cross multiplying

\sf\twoheadrightarrow\:3(3x-10)=2x+5

  • Multiplying the terms and removing brackets

\sf\twoheadrightarrow\:9x-30=2x+5

  • Now transposing +2x from RHS to LHS , it becomes -2x

\sf\twoheadrightarrow\:9x-2x-30=5

  • Calculation over like terms in LHS

\sf\twoheadrightarrow\:7x-30=5

  • Now transposing -30 from LHS to RHS , it becomes +30

\sf\twoheadrightarrow\:7x=5+30

\sf\twoheadrightarrow\:7x=35

  • Now transposing 7 to RHS , it goes to the denominator

\sf\twoheadrightarrow\:x=\frac{35}{7}

  • Reducing the fraction to lower terms

\sf\twoheadrightarrow\:x=\cancel\frac{35}{7}

\small{\underline{\boxed{\mathrm\red{\twoheadrightarrow\:x=\:5}}}}

\large\sf\underline{Verifying\::}

Not sure about the ansWers !? Let's verify it.

We would substitute the value of x as 5 in the given equation. Doing so if we get LHS = RHS our answer would be correct.

\sf\:\frac{2x+5}{3}=3x-10

  • Plugging the value of x as 5

\sf\rightarrow\:\frac{2(5)+5}{3}=3(5)-10

\sf\rightarrow\:\frac{2 \times 5+5}{3}=3 \times 5-10

\sf\rightarrow\:\frac{10+5}{3}=15-10

\sf\rightarrow\:\frac{15}{3}=5

\sf\rightarrow\:\cancel\frac{15}{3}=5

\sf\rightarrow\:5=5

\bf\rightarrow\:LHS=RHS
