When you mix aqueous solutions of KI and Pb(NO3)2, you get a yellow suspension (precipitate) of lead iodide.
Pb(NO3)2(aq) + 2KI(aq) = PbI2(s) + 2KNO3(aq)
PbI2 is insoluble in water and so it is precipitated as a yellow solid (suspension). It can be separated by filtration. A colloid cannot be separated by ordinary filtration, as the smaller colloidal particles are uniformly distributed in the entire medium.
Since KNO3 formed is a soluble salt, it remains in solution.
It is a double displacement reaction
