Step-by-step explanation:

Given:-

7x-3y = 8

3x-4y = 1

To find :-

Solve the equations by Elimination method?

Solution :-

Given pair of linear equations in two variables are :

7x-3y = 8------------(1)

3x-4y = 1-------------(2)

On multiplying (1) with 3 then

21x-9y = 24 ---------(3)

On multiplying with 7 then

21x-28y = 7 ----------(4)

On subtracting (4) from (3) then

21x-9y = 24

21x-28y = 7

(-) (+) (-)

__________

0+19y = 17

__________

=> 19y = 17

=> y = 17/19

On substituting the value of y in (2) then

=> 3x-4(17/19) = 1

=> 3x -(68/19) = 1

=> (57x-68)/19 = 1

=> 57x-68 = 1×19

=> 57x -68 = 19

=> 57x = 19+68

=> 57x = 87

=> x = 87/57

Therefore, x = 87/57 and y = 17/19

Answer:-

The solution for the given problem is

(87/57 , 17/19)

Check:-

If x = 87/57 and y = 17/19 then

LHS of equation (1)

=>7x-3y

=> 7(87/57)-3(17/19)

=> (609/57)-(51/19)

LCM of 57 and 19 = 57

=>(609-153)/57

=> 456/57

=>8

=> RHS

=> LHS = RHS

and

If x = 87/57 and y = 17/19 then

LHS of equation (2)

=> 3x-4y

=> 3(87/57)-)4(17/19)

=> (261/57)-(68/19)

LCM of 57 and 19 = 57

=> (261-204)/57

=> 57/57

=> 1

=> RHS

=> LHS = RHS

Verified the given relations in the given problem.
