Answer:

Given:-

ABCD is a square of 24cm.

AE=15cm

Solution:-

Part 1:-

Since, AEFD is a rectangle opposite sides are equal.

AE=15cm

AD=24cm(ABCD is a square)

EB=AB-AE

=24cm-15cm

=9cm

EF=AE=15cm(EF is parallel to AE)

Now,

AE=15cm

AD=24cm

Perimeter of AEFD=

=2(l+b)

=2(15cm+24cm)

=2(39cm)

=78cm

Now,

EF=15cm

EB=9cm

Since it is a rectangle(opposite sides are equal),

Hence,

Perimeter=2(l+b)

=2(15cm+9cm)

=2(24cm)

=48cm

Perimeter of ABCD that exceeds=78cm-48cm

=30cm

Part 2:-

AE=15cm

AD=24cm

Area of rectangle AEFD=24cm×15cm

 = 360cm^2

In rectangle EBCF,

EF=15cm

EB=9cm

Area of rectangle AEFD=15cm×9cm

 = 135cm^2

Area of AEFD exceeds to the area of EBCF=

360cm^2-135cm^2

 =  225cm^2
